2011 AKS Thesis and Research Grant

 The Academy of Korean Studies invites both undergraduate and graduate students majoring in Korean Studies to apply for the new AKS Thesis and Research Grant program.

 □ Thesis Grant
   1. Grant Benefits
     ◦ Excellence award : 5,000,000KW
     ◦ Participation award : 2,000,000KW
   2. Eligibility
     ◦ Students attending undergraduate or graduate courses in Korean Studies at an overseas university (non-Korean citizen)
   3. How to apply
     ◦ Application form(Download)
     ◦ Original copy of the essay related to Korean Studies
 - Thesis : Times New Roman 12pt, Double space approxi. 5,000words
 - Abstract : Times New Roman 12pt, Double space approxi. 300words
     ◦ Certificate of enrollment
     ◦ Letter of recommendation (Advisor or Dean)
     ◦ The papers accepted or published in an academic journal are given  priorities
     ◦ Birth Certificate(or copy of passport)
   4. Deadline & Submission
     ◦ Deadline : Aug. 31, 2011
     ◦ On-line submission(gradaks@aks.ac.kr) preferred, but applications sent by  mail to arrive before Aug. 31, 2011 will also be accepted.
   5.  Notification
     ◦ Notification : Oct. 30, 2011

 □ AKS Research Grant (Visiting)
   -This is to provide graduate students preparing for a thesis in Korean Studies an opportunity to do research in Korea.
   1. Grant Benefits
    ◦ Monthly Stipend: 900,000KW
    ◦ Entry Support (Economy class round trip air-fare)
     ◦On-campus Accommodation available (Students must pay for their own accommodation.)
     ◦ Opportunities to take major classes and Korean language courses at the AKS
     ◦ Researchers have access to AKS facilities including library
   2. Grant Period
     ◦ 2011. 9. 1 ~ 2012. 2. 28 (6 months)
   3. Eligibility
     ◦ Graduate students specializing in Korean Studies at an overseas  university and those who have finished their coursework.
     ◦ Non-Korean citizen
   4. How to apply
     ◦ Application form(Download)
     ◦ Original copy of Certificate of enrollment or Certificate of Coursework Completion
     ◦ Original copy of Official Transcripts of Undergraduate and Graduate studies
     ◦ Research proposal
     ◦ Letter of recommendation(Advisor or Dean)
     ◦ Korean(S-TOPIK) and English(TOEFL, IELTS, TEPS) language proficiency test transcript, if available
     ◦ Birth Certificate(or copy of passport)
   5. Deadline & Submission
     ◦ Deadline : June 15, 2011
     ◦ On-line submission(gradaks@aks.ac.kr) preferred, but applications sent by  mail before June 15, 2011 will also be accepted.
   6.  Notification
     ◦ Notification : July 31, 2011
     ◦ Successful candidates are expected to arrive at the AKS before Aug. 31, 2011
