Call for proposals: Korean Studies Grant 2020
The Academy of Korean Studies (AKS) is pleased to announce the application guidelines for 2020 Korean Studies Grant Program. This program provides variety of funding opportunities for researchers affiliated with educational or research institutions outside of Korea, to enhance the quality of Korean studies and globalize Korean studies. Anyone who are interested in this program and meets the eligibility is welcome.

1. Programs
Program | Eligibility |
Academic Research | The program supports academic research, either individual or collaborative, on Korea-related subjects. | a. Researchers affiliated with educational or research institutions outside of Korea b. The Project Director is required to have at least one scholarly publication within the past 4 years (August 2015-July 2019 /Dissertations are excluded). |
Conference and Workshop | The program supports academic conferences and workshops on Korea-related subjects - International or national conference or workshop - Thematic conference or workshop | - Researchers affiliated with educational or research institutions outside of Korea |
Scholarly Publication | The program assists scholarly publication for the broad dissemination of original research results in Korean Studies. - Scholarly Journal - Book Publication | a. Researchers affiliated with educational or research institutions outside of Korea b. (Book Publication) Applicants must have a signed contract with an overseas publisher of scholarly books related to Korean Studies without receiving any other publication support from other institutions. |
Educational and Cultural Program | The program supports lectures, educational programs, and cultural activities designed for the dissemination of knowledge in Korean Studies. | - Researchers affiliated with educational or research institutions outside of Korea |
Translation of Overseas Korean Studies Monograph | The program supports translation of Korean Studies Monograph published outside of Korea into Korean. | - Researchers affiliated with educational or research institutions outside of Korea |

Ø In case of Academic Research, the following is additionally required:
- Co-researcher’s CV
* In case of two-year projects selected in 2019, another form (the renewal application) will replace the application form and it will be notified to project directors separately.
Ø In case of Book Publication, the following two documents are additionally required:
- A copy of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the publisher
- The manuscripts (Completion of manuscript 60% or more)
Ø In case of Translation of Overseas Korean Studies Monograph, the following documents are additionally required:
- Sample translation (A4 10pages) and the original text
- Co-translator’s CV
- Proof of copyright of translation (Submit the proof after the announcement of award notification)
3. Submission Deadline: September 29, 2019
Applications must be submitted before 23:59(Korea Standard Time) on September 29, 2019.

*Applications received after the deadline will not be considered.
4. Result Notification
The result of your application will be notified on our website and also by email in December, 2019.
